![]() Case Study 5 Overview Hancock Fabrics partnered with St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital to create The Quilt of Dreams promotion, a nationwide fund-raising effort in Hancock Fabrics stores. During the promotion, which runs annually from May-September, quilters are asked to produce lap quilts for the children of St. Jude. The quilts are produced using one-of-a-kind fabrics designed based on the artwork of patients receiving treatment at the hospital. The fabrics are sold in Hancock Fabrics stores with St. Jude receiving 30 cents of the purchase price per yard. Results The 2003 promotion raised $1.1 million for St. Judes programs through Hancocks donations from fabric sales, and produced more than 3,500 quilts, which were donated to the hospital for use in 17 international clinics. Hancock realized nearly $250,000 in sales of the specially-designed fabrics as well an extensive increase in foot traffic and associated sales. |
